Our Story

On the 5th December 2019 a group of Grangetown residents all with the same common goal, led by Adam (our Charity’s Founder) met, formed & constituted Grangetown Generations. following this, our fundraising efforts began to help fund events, activities and day trips for the betterment of our community.

When suddenly the country was forced into lockdown with most people in our community advised to shield due to the COVID-19 pandemic, immediately we stepped up to the plate to support where ever possible.

We quickly identified a need to get food, clothing and other essential supplies direct to people’s homes, that is when we launched our Support Hub, we secured a vehicle from Beyond Housing to deliver supplies and we started making contact with supermarkets, businesses and calling for donations to support our emergency efforts. During the pandemic we directly supported thousands across our wider communities.

Following the pandemic, we soon realised that we had expanded quicker than we had anticipated and it soon become apparent that we needed more space to operate.

In 2021 we reached an agreement with Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council to take over half of the Grangetown Library building footprint to create an all purpose community space. which allowed us to host our own events and activities, hold children’s parties and most Importantly a space that others could use to deliver their services to our community.

In September 2021 we successfully registered as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation.

November 2023 we expanded into Eston, opening Birkdale Community Centre on an 5year Lease.

April 2024 following many years of negotiations and discussions with RCBC we finally took control and management of the entire Grangetown Library building on a 25year lease, whilst also safeguarding our Library space which we now operate on a voluntary basis to ensure it’s future.

We are proud to provide community facilities and service for families within the Grangetown & Greater Eston Communities. Our Mission & Aim is to create projects, provide various support, ( including emergency food, warm clothing etc), as well as services and activities for all Ages and backgrounds within our Community, we aim to tackle food poverty, social isolation and deprivation head on and strive to complement and work with other Community Group‘s, Organisations and services and wish to encourage Social Inclusion, Boost Community Spirit, Civic Pride, Mental Health, Fitness and General Wellbeing.
